Back Tension

Muscle and back tension is a condition where the body’s muscles stay semi-contracted for prolonged periods, often resulting from the physiological effects of stress, which can trigger episodes of back pain.

Stress can affect the nervous system by constricting blood vessels and diminishing blood flow to soft tissues such as muscles, tendons, and nerves in the back, leading to reduced oxygen levels and the accumulation of biochemical waste products in the muscles, ultimately causing tension, spasms, and pain.

Typically, muscle tension is addressed through non-surgical methods aimed at relaxing the muscles, including exercise, water therapy, and heat therapy.

Shoulder and Neck Pain

The neck and shoulders are complex and interconnected areas, and medical problems that affect one often affect the other, as well. Pain and dysfunction from injuries or conditions that impact the joints, muscles, and other structures can easily spread from the neck to the shoulder(s) and from the shoulder(s) to the neck and scapula.

These body parts share bones, muscles, connective tissues, and nerves, making it easy for pain to radiate throughout the area.

Chronic Back Pain

The definition of the chronic lower back pain is established by the persistence of pain beyond 3 months of symptoms. Very often, the pain is “non specific”, meaning related to a mechanical origin.

The main factors inducing the pain to become chronic are individual factors, psychological factors or socio-professional factors. The socio-professional factors are often much more influential than the physical factors.

The overwhelming element of treatment is physical exercise. Other methods of treatment like cognitive therapy, behavioural therapy and multidisciplinary rehabilitation can also lead to significant improvements.

Chinese Meridian Points

According to Chinese Medicine meridians are the pathways through which Qi. Blood, and the various body fluids flow. Meridianology is the foundation for many Chinese Medicine concepts and practices such as acupuncture or Gua Sha.
The meridian network includes meridians (jing – 經) and “collaterals” (luo – 絡). Meridians are the pathways that run vertically through the body. Collaterals branch out horizontally from the meridians to further connect and network the body.
Together they make up an exhaustive network that connects everything in the body.

Ankle and Knee Pain

Sprains are injuries where a ligament is stretched or torn within a joint. Common places you might have a sprain can include your ankle, knee, and wrist.

In severe sprains, the ligaments can be partially or completely torn – sometimes leading to surgery. Treatment for sprains often involves rest and physical and massage therapy.

Face and Head Massage

A technique that consists of stroking, pinching, rolling, squeezing, and otherwise stimulating the soft tissues and muscles of the face.

Face massage may be used to relieve tension and possibly control age-related phenomena, such as wrinkling.

Frozen Shoulder

Frozen shoulder, also known as adhesive capsulitis, is a condition characterized by stiffness and pain in your shoulder joint. Signs and symptoms typically begin gradually, worsen over time and then resolve, usually within one to three years.

Your risk of developing frozen shoulder increases if you’re recovering from a medical condition or procedure that prevents you from moving your arm.

Prenatal/Postnatal Massage

Prenatal massage can relieve back pain and will improve your sleep and overall mood. Other benefits can include decreased stress and may reduce labor complications.

The key to getting the most out of your prenatal massage is to understand that your prenatal health extends long after your baby is born so it is vital to maintain not only optimum health during the pregnancy but after the birth, you will need to beware of how your body and mind are reacting. Now is the time to take care of yourself and the changes your body is undergoing.

Tennis Elbow

Tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis) is a painful condition that occurs when tendons in your elbow are overloaded, usually by repetitive motions of the wrist and arm.

Despite its name, athletes aren’t the only people who develop tennis elbow. People whose jobs feature the types of motions that can lead to tennis elbow include plumbers, painters, carpenters, and butchers.

The pain of the tennis elbow occurs primarily where the tendons of your forearm muscles attach to a bony bump on the outside of your elbow. Pain can also spread into your forearm and wrist.

The body produces collagen fibers and sends them to repair around an injury site. Collagen fibers differ in texture from normal tissue fibers. Collagen is tough in texture and lays across the direction of muscle fibers.

Migraine Massage

Migraine is a neurological disorder characterized by severe headaches and a variety of symptoms, including nausea, vomiting, difficulty speaking, and sensitivity to light and sound. It has a hereditary component and is more common in individuals assigned female at birth. Diagnosis relies on clinical history and symptom reports while ruling out other causes. Migraine attacks are classified as episodic or chronic, further divided by the presence or absence of aura.
